Are your prices reassuringly expensive?
How does the idea of being expensive make you feel?
For me today, it feels exciting. Other times, when I am in in full Nurturer, people pleaser mode, it’s terrifying AND paralysing.
Let me tell you a story about a kilo of gold coins, an OBE, a people pleaser
I was once a speaker at a women’s conference, booked to talk about money mind-set.
I had my with new banners, leaflets and a kilo of gold chocolate coins!
But I didn’t sell anything! Here’s why.
Big Lesson 1. Talk only to your Ideal Clients. I was talking to people who believed they had problems with money so were never going to invest.
My talk went down really well. The room was full. A few women stopped me to say it really resonated with them but no one invested in working with me from that event.
Afterwards an amazing woman, Gill Donnell, OBE retired Police Superintendent came up to me and invited me to be a speaker at her event.
She also said that when I was speaking she felt my words and advice didn’t apply to her.
She didn’t have money problems and felt I was speaking to people who had money problems.
OMG! No wonder I didn’t get any clients! I was speaking to people who thought they couldn’t afford to invest in working with me!
Big Lesson 2. Get clear on the BIG transformation your ideal clients get on EVERY part of their life.
Get totally clear on the transformation your clients get from working with you. How it affects their wider life.
Write a list of everything that happens for your ideal client when they work with you, the wider picture.
For my clients with fertility challenges, they desperately wanted to have a baby. They felt they were missing out on joy and living on the misery they had because they couldn’t have what they wanted. Think of all those family holidays, baby events, the pregnancy, all the joys of being a parent that they would miss out on.
Also, in this case, £10,000 plus for every IVF treatments is often the case, the value people put on having a child.
For my business coaching clients it’s about the freedom they get from having a business they love that pays the bills too. The independence, ability to have more choices and control of their lives. To spend time with those they love and leave stuck situations… and much more.
What is it for you? Helping a client get relief from back pain so their sex life is on track again? Think big, think emotions, missing out. .
Big Lesson 3. Be proud of your prices and the transformation you bring FOR YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS, THOSE WHO VALUE YOU. NO-ONE ELSE MATTERS, NOT YOUR MUM, YOUR FRIENDS, ONLY THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO PAY YOU.
You may feel you want to add another zero to your prices after this!!
Even if you don’t, you’ll be able to stand really tall, knowing you are giving your ideal clients an amazing service that is true value for them.
Please spend the time to do this work and revisit it when you feel challenged.
Those issues often trip heart centred folk up again and again…
