Sunset yoga on the beach
I'm just back from a holiday in Buccament Bay, St Vincent, a magical part of the Caribbean. It's an amazing island with an active volcano. We were treated to two weeks of sun, tropical rain, rain forests (one of my big loves) dolphins and many other wonderful things!
Laura Vallati who runs the spas, is also a wonderful yoga teacher and took regular sunset yoga classes on the beach. I used to do yoga regularly and the 6 lessons I did while I was away have got me back in the habit. I can now be found doing Salute the sun in my treatment room and am proud to say, I've have booked some dynamic yoga classes at Shambhala in Leigh!
I was reminded how yoga gently gets us better coordinated, breathing deeply, relaxes the body and mind and is excellent relief from back aches and vigorous exercise. One day I climbed the 4000ft up Soufriere the volcano and a yoga class the folllowing day meant I didn't ache at all! The meditations are valuable too for setting us up for our busy lives.
I'm really sensitive to the sun, hence full clothing, purple sunhat and glasses!
More about my St Vincent discoveries in the next few days as there are many!
