5 things you probably don't know about garlic and the common cold!
1. Garlic has been used as a medicine for at least 4,000 years. Cloves were found in the tombs of ancient Egyptian pharaohs.
2. The cold is the most common disease of mankind.
3. Adults catch between 2 and 4 colds a year on average, babies and
young children between 6 and 10!!
4. In a study at the Garlic Centre in East Sussex, 146 subjects took a garlic supplement or a placebo over a 12 week period. It was found that the garlic provided effective protection against the common cold for most of the people in the study and those who took garlic
and still caught a cold had symptoms for significantly shorter time.
5. Garlic has been effective in treating infections caused by the hospital superbug, MRSA
